In a winner-takes-all match for the Bronze Medal on the last day of the FIVB World Grand Prix Finals in Tokyo on Sunday, Russia took the honours, beating China 3:2 (21:25, 14:25, 25:22, 25:20, 15:13) at Ariake Coliseum. The win completes a comeback for Russia after being down 2:0 in the match. The two teams have now met 27 times in the World Grand Prix. Tatiana Kosheleva led the Russia team with 28 points, while Liu Xiaotong was the China's best scorer with 19 points. Russia (3-2) finished with seven points; China (2-3) finished with six points. China coach Lang Ping said: "Congratulations to Russia. For the first two sets my impression was that Russia couldn’t get into any rhythm, but after that the match was really close. Russia’s blocks and attacks and receiving were amazing. We had our chances but we couldn’t take advantage of them unfortunately. This tournament was very good experience for our young players; they did their best".
