Canada picked up their first win of the World Cup, beating Australia in five sets including a gripping conclusion to the game. John Gordan Perrin led the Canadians on 26 points, while the talismanic Thomas Edgar, who sat out the majority of the first three sets, topped the score sheets for Australia with 21. Canada coach Glenn Hoag said: "We are very happy with the win after a disappointing match against Japan last night. We showed ourselves something today. At 20-18 in the fifth set it could have gone either way. We are continuing to work as hard as we can to improve".
