UPCN Voley Club

UPCN San Juan Volleyball Club was founded in 2007 in the province of San Juan and had a meteoric rise to success. In their first season, they avoided relegation in the last game of the season. After that, their progress was quick. In their second season in the Argentine League, they finished third (2008/09). They were runners-up in the following year (2009/10). UPCN have been unstoppable in the last four years, winning the championships in 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13 - conceding only one defeat - and, most recently, in 2013/14. In 2013, UPCN went on to win the South American championship in Minas, Brazil, against the host team. At the most recent World Championships in 2013, UPCN qualified for the semifinals, equaling the best ever performance by an Argentine team. Key players in this success story include Demián Gonzalez (setter), Sebastian Garroq (libero), Gustavo Molina (middle blocker) and Junior Souza (middle blocker), who have played a role in all UPCN's victorious campaigns. In other national competitions, UPCN were champions of Super 8 and the Copa ACLAV, and placed third in the World Challenge in California.
