The Netherlands beat Russia in a thrilling match in the tie-break on the opening day of the men's Volleyball competition (The Olympics 2004). After match: Poland - Serbia and Montenegro, it was time for another surprises. Vadim Khamuttskih on the press conference said: "The first games are always hard. This is the first day. It is a lesson for us to try to become better and better for the rest of the tournament". Reinder Nummerdor, captain of Netherlands national team after the victory against Russia: said: "This is a very important victory for us. It was not easy but the team spirit helped. It was a great chance for a first victory. The Russian team served better, but the team spirit proved to be the key for our win". Nummerdor earned a total number of 349 matches for The Netherlands, and teamed up with Richard Schuil after the Athens Games for a career in beach volleyball. What do you think?
