Brazil beat Russia 3:1 (26:24, 22:25, 25:23, 25:22) to claim a spot in the semi-final of the World League 2014. Wallace de Souza was top scorer for Brazil with 23 points while Nikolay Pavlov scored 18 points for Russia. Russia have two points after beating Iran 3:2; today’s match between Brazil and Iran will therefore decide whether Russia or Iran go through. Brazil captain Bruno Rezende said his team had worked extremely hard to improve their form after their 3:1 victory over Russia in their World League clash in Florence on Thursday. He said: "I’m very proud of the way the team played today, especially after some of the poor performances we had in qualifying. We trained and practiced hard to get better after our struggles, because our philosophy is that practice makes a really big difference. We worked for this win over Russia".
