Ko Hui Jin block on Robertlandy Simon Aties

Volleybox 2015-04-02 • 3921 views • 17

Several players dominated in Korean V-League 2014/15, among them was the Cuban Robertlandy Simon Aties from the new champions: Rush&Cash. There were not many situations when opponents managed to block his spikes, so when it happens, it’s a treat. During the last game of play-offs, the player of Samsung Bluefangs wearing number 10 was prepared in advance for possible block on Simon Aties. When he stopped the Cuban on the net he raised the jersey and showed written letters "KO" (knockout) on his stomach.

Nonsense league from a sportman point of view. With extra paid players, even those who will never be able to play in an average european league. Enormous technical and physical difference between local players and international stars who accept to play there only to get their wallet heavier. Managers and team staff's with no knowledge of anything, some of those are said to choose lineups on the basis of simple computer outputs. And this is the volleyball kingdom that sponsors like Samsung,Hyundai and Korean Air are financing like soccer clubs... just bleah!

@xandreopoulos: On the matter, I must disagree with you. Yes, it is true indeed that many players prefer Korea to major leagues due to the salary they get over there, that's despicable to some extent. Nevertheless, I don't agree with your point of view about Korean players. In fact, if on the one hand Korean players are not as good as European/American ones, on the other hand they are trying to develop their home league and make a championship good enough for native players to play in. My opinion is that by doing so, they help players improving over time; moreover, I consider Korean v-league more as a show to enjoy, than just a sport. I deeply enjoy watching the way they celebrate and so forth. So, what's the matter? They enjoy sport in a different way, that doesn't mean that just because their players are not as good as ours, they should be deprived of the opportunity to have a league, and hire a foreign player.

@Daniel_e92: yes you are right but i dont like the volleyballl in Korea.One player has the 70% of attack of the team

@xandreopoulos: You exactly got my point.
@Daniel_e92: What you say is some way agreeable. But this is not sport, then. Also, I think it's clear they hire star players just for winning games, not for growing up their own ones. Otherwise, how would you explain foreign players often scoring 40+ points/game? They see volleyball as marketing, read "I buy just because I can afford it" like clubs in the Emirates. I mean, they could have done this with any other discipline with no difference for the audience. They do not enjoy volleyball, they enjoy Simon, Leyva and so on demolishing helpless locals by ball hits. And you understand that from the weekly higlights videos. Differenty, Japanese, Chinese and Indonesia's leagues' aim is to really improve, very close to what you say. And I like them much more.

I watched all three matches, and Leonardo Leyva's attacks make up 90% of Bluefangs. He is an astonishing player, i would like to watch him playing in Europe. Simon on the other hand, showed that he's not a real opposite, in fact he was blocked/commited errors several times during these finals. It's a pity that Simon can't play in his own role, as he's - imho - the best middle blocker in the world along with Muserskiy, as long as attack is concerned. I greatly enjoyed watching the finals, and Ok Bank Ansan Rush&Cash dominated with two 3-0 at Daejeon, and 3-1 at Ansan.

@Wilfredo_is_Marshall:
If you go to Youtube, look for spotv, it's a Korean sports channel. You should be able to find the complete matches on that channel.
