In a battle of traditional power houses USA ran out 3:0 winners over Italy in Pau. The 22-year-old opposite spiker: Benjamin Patch, who already has 40 points to his name in the World League 2017, was impressive throughout the match, lifting his side its first victory since the start of this year’s edition last week. Italy lost three successive World League matches and put their chances of claiming an 9th World League title in jeopardy despite commanding performances from setter Simone Giannelli and opposite Giulio Sabbi. The latter top scored 10 points for Italy.
