Now I see what the problem is,casamodena
The first part of my first long post was not an attack for you.It was triggered by your comment about the budgets,BUT your opinion is actually a very common one(in Bulgarian forums and etc.),and even though I believe you didn't mean to,you got me in kind of a defensive mode(It's been building up for quite some time). My parents have always taught me that money never trumps heart and I was defending what I was brought up to believe. I didn't mean that Modena doesn't have a heart or anything like that. From that point on I only wrote about what I know has happened around the team in their (as we agreed) short history.Much later on the post I mentioned your name and I agreed with you about those "moments" that clubs have.I honestly thought we were just sharing As I said before - I meant no disrespect, but I don't have to explain to you what an insult it is to say "go watch football" to a volleyball fan, right

@Spike Wise words!
@proud Many things have been misunderstood, by me too.
"casamodena, the least I wanted to do with my post was to offend you"
this one no. As you said everyone was explaining his point of view. There are many ways to disagree, this one is miles out of context. You have my respect if you do the same with me.
I apologize to all those who have read these last childish posts that do not deserve to be on this nice forum

How did I offend you?I told you "I have tremendous respect for the staff around the teams(my uncle used to be a staff member on a team in Bulgaria),therefore you, too" and you replied "I respect all other people",meaning you don't respect me.Come on,I really think there's been a huge misunderstanding here.I voiced my opinion, you voiced yours,we don't have to agree I thought we were just sharing information, that's all.Your last sentence is particularly hurtful,I'm not a bully.

So you want me to change my mind. Be sure I'm not leaving because of you, but because I respect all other people reading this thread as I don't want to reply your last post for doing the same. You have your own opinion? well, I've mine.Stop.
Here everyone's talking correctly, if you want to offend go to see football or elsewhere.

casamodena, the least I wanted to do with my post was to offend you, please don't leave the thread because of me
I have tremendous respect for the staff around the teams(my uncle used to be a staff member on a team in Bulgaria),therefore you,too and I believe you know what you're talking about.Money play a big role in everything(Sisley was gonna lose their license because of money trouble, right).I know the history of Trento's team or their lack of history, that's why I said they've build quite some for a short period of time and I think is unfair to say it's due to money and deminish their hard work and devotion.Buying their license doesn't make them a "money" club.As a whole I think it's silly to discuss money in clubs, because that's where the players get paid for their work, clubs are not NTs.
I have to disagree with the first PS,though, because I know what really went down(I have some connections, too ).Dinamo did not let Matey go.He had another year left on his contract and chose to not go through with it.He had a lot of trouble with the Bulgarian club that held his rights at the time and didn't want him to go to a club where he(meaning they)will get less money.I remember reading an interview with Matey around that time and he said that he'd rather not play for an year(according to FIVB rules)than be exploited like that. The FIVB president Ruben Acosta had to write letters to get him out of Slavia's slavery.I don't know about Dinamo administration's feeling about his decision ,but their coach at the time Baniolli came to Varna(during that year's WL)to talk to Matey about this and make him change his mind, but he said he's going to Trento.

oioi
Trento is one of the richest volleyball clubs in the world, so I don't think that they play just for the passion. Many big names were in this club so it really can't be poor: Grbic, Winiarski, Nikolov, Andre Heller, Vissotto and now Kaziyski, Juantorena. It's proffessional, financially stable and with lots of fans therefore it's good place for players and they usually don't want to leave this club.

Me too.
I wasn't talking about what Trento's players earn or could earn (I don't know even).
I was referring to the economical power of the club ( which gives importance to it and affect foreign players' decision to go there rather than elsewhere).
Let us be clear: Matey, Juantorena and other Trento's players (not volleyball-gods but in any case good players) love their team as they play in the current world's best. That team has been built up with enormous economical expenses to hire the best players right away. The proof is that they started playing serie A1 by buying the license from another club, and they don't have past history, even if they're buiding one now. As happened for glorious teams like Treviso,Rome,Ravenna,Milan,Parma and Modena aswell, if one day you start to be no longer the best, your top players will go away, your money will decrease and your team won't be more than a modest one.
PS1: Dinamo choosed to let Matey go to earn money and hire other talented players with them since Trento was offering a lot.
PS2:Kazan didn't offer to Trento too much for Osmany, but they promised only to the player (and not his team) a lot. So he didn't say "No" by himself.
PS3: I've some reliable sources to confirm what I said, by working in volleyball managment field from some time and having mates from russian league.
But I do not want to argue , so I won't write here again

I had the patience to read what you wrote, proud, and I couldn't agree more with you. Apparently there are some things like team spirit, attachment to your fans, passion and heart to play and win for your club that are more important than bigger offers.

After all of Trento's success people are trying to make it look as though Trento is the biggest team in the world and it's all due to their money. It's not true.2 players get paid considerably more than the others and that's all.Trento doesn't have the biggest budget in the world or in Italy. Can you say it's a team build of stars-are Sala and Birareli the best MBs in the world,is Bari the best libero in the world?See who they're adding this season and tell me they're big names. They've changed the team a lot for the past 4 seasons(won 3 CEVs with 3 different setters),but they keep winning because of their HEART.None of them are there for the money, most of the player have had better offers over the years but stayed. In 2007 when there was some buzz around Matey and he decided to leave Dinamo Moscow, most of the press in Bulgaria said he's crazy to leave the good money in Russia and go in Trento(I think 8th in Italy at the time). He didn't care, said he trusted Stoytchev and the team that he'd assembled and believed they can win the Scudetto(his dream since he was a little boy).No one believed they could do it,but they did. After that there were offers for Vlado and Matey and Vlado accepted his - said he had to think about his family and went to Cuneo.Matey on the other hand rejected 2 and 3 times bigger offers to stay in the team they built. After the World Club Ch. 2010 there was another BIG offer for him to return to Russia(Zenit Kazan),where people go for the money(Stanley,Ball - and there's nothing wrong with that),but he refused again. After his great last season Osmany also got a very big offer from Zenit and said "No,thank you".The team has almost weekly meeting with their fans and the town lives for them - their motto is "Un solo Amore, Trento nel Cuore!!".
casamodena's right that every team has their "moment".Most Italian clubs have had a series of good seasons and then flops. But if Trento never wins another trophy, they still made history and can be proud of everything they've done in this club for the rest of their lives. The ultimate underdog story - how David became Goliath!
Congratulation if you had the patience to read the whole thing

Thank goodness, somebody from Trento was missing on here!
Remember that for us it would be a (big) dream being in final, but for you it was a MUST, so let's say all gone well for you (otherwise...)
Modena's not so strong? Yes,at all. But try to buid up a team with top-players having 1/4th of your budget... Impossible. Sure, Trento is the team of the moment and I personally wish you guys a looong future, but take into account periods like ours nowadays, because they will come for you too...
