The key to the win by Polish national team was the team spirit and team play. Poland won against Germany 3:1 (26:24, 28:26, 23:25, 25:21) to gain the promotion to their second gold medal match in the history of the World Championship. Once again Mariusz Wlazly topped the Polish scorers with 22 points that included three aces and one block. Mateusz Mika added 17 of his own while Karol Klos contributed six blocks among his 14 points. Germany’s Dennis Kaliberda, Georg Grozer and Christian Fromm finished with 18, 14 and 12 points respectively. Poland captain Michał Winiarski on the press conference said: "What can I say? We’re really happy. We worked really hard for it. We showed that we have character, the majority of the match we fought with ourselves, as we knew that the final was very close. What happened on the court today is not important. The most important is that we will play tomorrow in the final".
