I do have some footage of canadian players, but I just don't have the time. However, after this years world league, I will definitely put up highlights of the Canadian team, as I will try to record all the matches from t.v.

It’d be awesome if they put the games at ACC (Raptors and Leafs hall), a huge venue, but probably it’ll be held at Hershey Centre, in Mississauga (west of Toronto), an 8,000-seats place. There’s a big Polish community in Toronto and also a small Brazilian community. Hope to see more Canadians there or we’ll have a repetition of the clash USA-Poland in Chicago last year, when there were more Poles than Americans in the crowd. If Volleyball Canada spread the word, I’m sure most of these people you mentioned will try to attend the matches. That would be fantastic: A volleyball tournament in Canada sold out. :-)

there is a huge tournament being hosted during that weekend in toronto. It's nationals for u13 -U18 teams and adult(18+) teams as well. A good opportunity to get lots of people out to cheer them on. there is supposed to be something like over 45,000 people attending the tournament.

Champion, Jason Haldane played for Team Canada in the 1990s and 2000s. Since the British didn’t have a volleyball team, but they needed to set up one for the Olympics, their federation kept an eye on athletes with a British passport. I think Haldane will be 41 at the Olympics. This guy was awarded best blocker at 1995 World Cup and finished the preliminary pool of 1999 WL leading the stats.

Hewwing, some good guys played or are still playing in Korea. IMO, if Gavin wants to reach a higher level, he should move to a bigger league, you know, face tougher blocks. It’s gonna be good watching Canada at WL. The formula was changed for this year, and each country will host a round-robin tournament. Canada will host the first one in the pool, probably in Toronto, during a long weekend in May.

I didn't realize he was getting those offers. It would be interesting to see how he would perform in tougher leagues. He has dominated the Korean league. The league is trying to bring in more players to compete against him. I know another good opposite from Canada is playing there. He recently won player of the month. Canada is going to gain a lot of experience from play Brazil, Poland and Finland in this years world league.

BTW, did you guys know the jump serve was created by a Canadian?

No, we did not. Thank you for letting us know, Henrique

There is one native Canadian, the captain of GB at the moment – Jason Haldane, who is playing for the Bulgarian CSKA now. They are not doing well at all. Hope with Salparov back they would have some chances tomorrow.

Finally a Canadian is showcased on this site.

Yeah! Canadian players surely deserve more exposure. Canada has a good team and I’m glad they’ll play at 2012 World League. Gavin Schmitt is a strong opposite hitter. For those interested in some numbers, he’s 2,08m tall and his spike reach is 3,70m (dunno his block reach). Before this season, Gavin had offers from Brazil, Italy and Russia, but his club in Korea (Samsung Bluefangs) kept him – this guy has a star status over there. Maybe he should move to a stronger league to test his power against taller blocks and improve his game. Anyway, he’s very good.

There are some other interesting players from Canada. Hope we can see them here on v-movies soon.
