Setter position in Jastrzębski Węgiel

What are your opinions on the setter for Wegiel?

Do you think Thornton will adapt to the Polish league?

What about Vinhedo?

and what is your opinon on new transfer Tiago Violas? He is the first-team setter for Portugal and is still 22 so he has time to adapt

And it's almost done. Thornton went back for some time into USA, because of family issues and even if he comes back it'll be hard for him to be in match line-up - "Violas works very hard, many times asks me to stay and parctise a little bit more" - says Bernardi

Good day.
Tiago Violas, embraced volleyball at 8 years of age, devoting himself always with great commitment to the sport, still in youth, having won some titles in team Esmoriz Gym Club. From there to here has been imposing an attitude worthy of a very promising future, as the experience gained in the service of the national team in Europe and lately in the league world. So believe in evolution and consistently ruled in order to be successful in Poland, wishing him all the best.

This position always was the weakest in this team. I'm into them since 2004 and they haven't got dectnt setter since then.

Violas is pretty good!!Already won a European League when he was 20 years old as the main setter of the Portuguese National team. With the experience of the World League and European Championships, I think that he can be one of the best setters in Europe for the next 10 years!!

kristoff, Łomacz is for sure a great setter, amazing potential, and he's young, he has a long road in front of him. however, I believe Vinhedo, as many other Brazilian/South American setters, is a great setter. he played in the past for Remat, in the Romanian championship. I have to say that he did a superb job, just like the setter before him, also a Brazilian, Adriano Lamb, a true genius!

@MasterOPuppets: Ha ha, no. I just wanted to get this site running wild with discussion. You can see I started my account a short time ago and sincerely was surprised by the low number of comments per day. Just trying to make a lot of discussion topics to help this be the best volleyball site there is! (even better I mean, because this already is the best volleyball site)

They may try to get Redwitz from Tours VB, as he finishes this season (and his contract) - it would be nice

Violas and Łomacz should play, Vinhedo and Thornton out

No, matt52 talk about his brother Grzegorz Łomacz, which was previous setter in JW.

There is also a chance that Łomacz will return to JSW, because he still have contract with them. He's wasting himself in LOTOS

The choice of setter must be made at the beginning of the season otherwise there will be problems. Bernardi had made the choice by relying on the experience of Sintini, but unfortunately Jack has had major problems and had to stop (wishes jack).
The rest was a makeshift and nobody has ever had full confidence ,hence, it is not possible to have continuity of game since always change.

Bernardi should give Violas a chance, he is the youngest and he's very good, he can only learn and improve

I think two setters in JSW should be Violas i Vinhedo. Thornton is not precise enough for this team and he doesn't cooperate with the others.
Which is better I'm not sure....Maybe Violas

I think Vinhedo is quite solid.

I think Violas is the best, but Bernardi must give him a chance

I think that the youngest should play more.

I think that both - Vinhedo and Thornton are much to weak for PLS. Vinhedo can play medium lvl, but he makes a lot of mistakes. Thornton... In my opinion, my world he isnt a setter :P I want to see more Violas in play, maybe he can play on higher lvl...

Look - Łasko, Bartman, Kubiak, Bontje, Rusek, Holmes - they are high or very high lvl (for PLS), and setters... Weakest part in this team

i don't like Thorton and Vinhedo. this transferes were wrong and now Jastrzębski is paying for that. about Violas - he was on court for very short period of time so we can't judge him. he seems interesting and club should keep him for next season - eventhough he won't play now

I think Viola will be able to adapt and gain more consistency. I am his friend and hopefully be able to reach a place in the team Wegiel ;)

I think JW couldn't be better served with setters, than whit this 3 guys.
Maybe Tiago isnt ready now to play in the first six, but I know him and I'm sure he will play sooner or later. He is young but he's got a lot of experience with this last 3 seasons with the national team and what more he works, better he gets and he is working a lot for sure in Poland, sooner or later he will play for sure as first setter. Maybe you dont know, but he started playing as setter, 4 years ago, with the age of 18. Before he was Opposite!
Vinhedo has a lot of experience and has a lot of quality, and if they dont play good I dont think its his fault.
About Thornton, maybe its not his kind of league or kind of game that they play in the team. No doubt that he is a good setter, but maybe not excepcional and not ready to play at this high level.

I think that Tiago Violas would be good fot them, still young but already setter in his NT.

Bur for now I would chose for Vinhedo.. Think he has just that little more than Thornton..
