The Slovak spiker has been recently the focus of media attention and his life could be used as a material for quite a good movie. Peter Divis, the man in question, was born on 4th August 1976 in a Slovak town Zilina.

He was the talk of the media already several years ago when he was one of the best players in Europe, which in effect provided for his contemporary team - the French Tour - triumph in the Champions League. A powerful serve was his showpiece, but also his fantastic play in the attack, unfortunately as well as his great impulsiveness and many problems with which not only his coaches had to struggle, but also managers of clubs in which he played.

The first season in Poland

When 3 years ago coach Jan Such leading Jastrzębie Borynia said that two Slovacks would join his team (Pavel Chudik and the mentioned Divis), only few realized the fact of what a great player is Divis. Majority looked at the transfers with indulgence. The league turned out to be a playground for Davis. Fantastic matches against such teams as AZS Częstochowa or Skra Bełchatów confirmed the fans in the belief that the Slovak is an uncommon volleyballer.

In the play - offs Jastrzębie did not beat Częstochowa, but it the games for the 3rd place it did not give any chances to Polska Energia, not losing a single game and Peter Divis once again confirmed that ha was worth the money.

Transfer to Polska Energia

From Jastrzębie Divis was transferred to PE Sosnowiec which he beat in the play - offs a year earlier. The beginning of the season was rather weak, however as time flied the Slovak played better and better. The climax of his form had place in the Polish Cup played in Bełchatów where Polska Energia defended the title. Peter was chosen the best player of the tournament.

In the play - offs Divis played 4 fantastic games against Pamapol Częstochowa. The fans placed their hopes in the fifth, decisive game.

The windows in Częstochowa are large...

In the 5th match which took place in Częstochowa, the home team won 3-1. Divis did not have as much to say as a week ago. This is not the end - the worst for the fans from Sosnowiec was about to come.

Before the game the contemporary II coach of Polska Energia was informed that an anti - steroid control was to be conducted after the game. Among other players, Peter Divis was to be examined.

After the game someone informed Divis that the committee waits on him in front of the door. The Slovak did not go out. When the committee went inside it turned out that... Divisa is gone.

Many sources have it that the Slovak ran away through...the window. Other sources claim that Divis was helped by one of the cheerleaders from Częstochowa. The whole control was cancelled because the committee made some procedural mistakes. No one knew what happened to Divis.

From the Polish soil to the Italian...

For 2 months he sent sick leaves and then he stopped doing even this. Jerzy Kayser who at that time was the chairman of Polska Energia dissolved the contract with the Slovak. After several weeks it turned out that Peter Divis had become a player of the Italian team from Serie A -Teleunit Goia Del Colle.

Both the PZPS and the chairmen from Sosnowiec were at that moment helpless. The PZPS for the fact that the anti - steroid committee made procedural mistakes and the PE board for the fact that the contract was dissolved. Nothing could be done to Divis. At the end of September and the beginning of October, Peter Divis was picked to the all-star game of the Italian league.

Who is Peter Divis?

This question is asked not only by the fans of volleyball in Sosnowiec. Peter Divis seems to be a two-faced man. On one hand he is a fantastic volleyballer with huge physical strength, on the other hand, however, under the mask of a tremendous player a different person is hidden suspected of using narcotics, very impulsive and falling into anger easily. The first problems appeared already during the times when Divis played in France.. He was suspended in the French league, and he can only go back to France as a tourist.

His impulsiveness was visible when he played in Jastrzębie (in the game against PZU Olsztyn Divis was throwing chairs). That is not all - during the times of Energia Sosnowiec, after the game against Pamapol he called their fans the worst names. At present, Divis is the best player of his team - Teleunit which despite Slovak's quite a good performance is not able to bounce from the bottom of the table. However, would Davis be so good without steroids? This question will most probably be not answered. However, one thing is for sure. Peter Divis has nothing to look for now not only in France...

then lucky he is.. or crafty to be correct

here in russia we’ve recently had unpleasant case with Cheremisin’s half-a-year disqualification. Somewhere in December there was a doping control held and it showed that Cheremisin took marijuana. He justified that a day or two before the control he smoked a hookah which contained a little part of marijuana on somebody’s birthday party. he said it couldn’t affect on his play anyhow, it was proved as far as I know, but nevertheless he was punished with disqualification

that’s why I’m still wondering how is it possible not to be caught for Divis’s playing on rather high level

Nie wiem co o nim myśleć. Niby dobry gracz, efektowny, fajnie sie ogląda, ale nie trawię dopingowcow.
